After completing his degree in Architecture at Milan Polytechnic in 1972, Raul Barbieri opened the Raul Barbieri and Giorgio Marianelli Architetti Studio which was involved mostly in architecture and industrial design.
He has had his own studio in Milan since 1989.
His passion for research applied to design has brought him into contact with design schools such as l'Ecole Supérieure de la Création Industrielle “Les Ateliers” in Paris and the European Institute of Design in Milan.
Since 1999 he has been coordinator of the Designers' Department for ADI.
Raul Barbieri began working for Zucchetti in 1984, at the time of Marianelli's designs for the Coriandoli collection, followed in 1986 by the mixer tap Zetamix 3000. He then continued working individually, creating the important Oscar series in 1994, the Avio and Mondo collections in 1996 and the Zetatron electronic tap in 1998. The year 2000 marked the highly successful Spin collection, which was listed in the Adi Design Index. In 2001 he designed the mixer tap Flat.
